I'll be in BR this weekend and I'm looking to buy some local artwork. Nothing fancy or abstract, just something decent to hang on a wall with a bit of South Louisiana influence. Anyone here know of good places around BR?

You can find some decent stuff in Baton Rouge, try Acadian Frame and Art, they had a lot of the Rucker's and things like that.

...is stupidly overpriced. I really don't understand how some of these people sell anything at the prices they're asking.

FIFY

We decorated the house with a lot of artwork bought there. Nothing ostentatious or over-the-top (I'm an OT Poor living in Walker, LA, after all), but it's really nice, basic stuff.

I really like the old photographs of downtown Baton Rouge and LSU (as does my wife, which makes it easy).

Isn't there a place in/near the shaw center that sells art?

I know some local restaurants also have display art for sale - D'Angelo's in DS maybe and that steakhouse on 3rd st?

Yeah, there are a bunch of different places in Circa. It's a block sized compound. If you wander around, you should see something you like.

A tire that has been destroyed by all the potholes would be a great memento
