I let mine linger, bad idea. Popped on me one night at Sportsbeat, had a wet spot on my jeans as I waddled out the door. Dr Kelvin Contreary took mine out, recovery sucks for 1-2 weeks, but you’ll be glad you got it taken care of. I got it from riding in tractors post-Katrina sweating my arse off. Thin, but hairy.

Congrats on your new second a-hole. Because that’s pretty much what it looks like for a few weeks.
I had one of these in high school. Doctor called it “Jeep seat disease” because apparently during WW2, they were common for anyone in the back seats of those old army jeeps. It started out pretty much as a pimple that got bigger and bigger. Eventually I’d pop it and the discharge was the foulest smelling shite you could possibly imagine. But then it would reform within like 2 months and I’d have to do it all over again.
Eventually I had surgery for it. The doc scooped out all of it and then some - with a 2” hole - almost like a tunnel - that I’d have to pack with gauze. It healed up fine but in full disclosure, I have a weird scar there with no elasticity whatsoever. There’s times when weird movements will almost feel like it’s being torn open from the inside but there’s no physical damage on the outside. It’s hard to explain the sensation but it sucks.

Only use peroxide to get blood off my lab coat, lol. Some GP’s use it in small percentages to clean ears, but for the most part we don’t use peroxide in medicine. It’s formula is H2O2 and it one of the free oxygen radicals used to destroy all our cells, and any foreign bacteria or virus. Our white blood cells actually make this, and when they release it, it destroys everything in its path( it’s part of why we develop abscesses) just a whole pocket of dead cells. But the more to the point reason, is that because it destroys everything, indiscriminately, and everything trying to heal your wound, and studies show a huge delay in wound healing if used on a wound….

Had that surgery last year. Went to Keith Rhynes at Surgeons Group off Hennessey in BR.
I never had pain in the cyst but had it for awhile. Got tired of dealing with it so I had it removed. I did not require any pain meds afterwards and had zero issues. The only thing that was annoying was that I had to keep going back to the office to check on if it was hollowing within the cyst. Had to keep packing gauze in the wound until it closed up fully.
Dr. didn't believe me when I walked in and said I had a pilondidal cyst as I was 34. Showed my arse and he was really surprised it was. Said it really only happens to young people.

Now that’s a good question, I guess the same reason ibuprofens are sold, and they kill thousands, every year. Some things in medicine are just grandfathered in per se….

Can you just cut it open with a scalpel and squeeze the shite out of it? Or is there more removal that needs to be done? Watching videos of it now. It's kind of like a huge infected ingrown hair at the top of your arse crack?

That Seldom works with the pilonidal cysts, they are ingrown hairs that create irregular tracts. Have to get all the disease( tracts) out. Usually there are air pits, kind of like gas vents to the deeper infection. I inject those with methylene blue to stain the deeper tracts. That’s the only way I know to be sure all the diseased tracts are removed. Now, it’s good to drain an abcess when it first presents, and let it calm down. You want this to be an elective surgery, because if inflamed, it’s a bloody mess, and more blood loss that you want during surgery. So, initially drain the abcess, antibiotics for a week, surgery in 2-3 weeks is my routine

Y’all don’t do the “cleft lift” surgery or is that the cleft lift? I was really hoping to get the “pit picking” and hoped it would work for me bc of how early I think I caught it.
Btw I want a surgeon who does these damn things regularly, not just a surgeon who has done it before that’s why I ask for a “specialist”

I do this surgery, but not in Louisiana. The best results , with low recurrence, are to undergo General anesthesia, inject the ingrown hair pores with methylene blue, excise all tracts, and leave wound open to heal by secondary intent( just gradually fills in in a few months. Do not put peroxide on a wound. Just some neosporin and a dressing till healed. You can close the skin, but that close to the anus, high infection rates.; although, if lucky, heals quicker. I don’t like this method, though, cause when it’s stitched up, you bring the hair back to midline, and risk recurrence

I just watched a video of (what I think is) a severe case on YouTube and they cut half the dude's arse off then stitched it up. You could see his sphincter they cut so deep
