I once applied for a job in July, had 2 phone interviews during August, an in-person interview in September, got the offer in late October and started work in November.

Well this makes me feel a little bit better about my wife's situation. She interviewed at a school, they said she'd be a great fit, but said they had to see which grade would be available if there was any teachers moving grades.

It's been about 3 weeks and I have been real anxious, she seems confident though.

Interviewed in December, got a job in July. But the first interview was more of a meeting just to introduce myself through a connection since they really didn't have an open position at the time.

I've never had an interview where I didn't already have the job.

I interviewed with my company on August, 24th, 2014... Flew me to Houston several times, had phone screens with all kinds of upper-level management, ride-alongs here in NOLA and I finally got the offer at the end of February.

I think I may have set some kind of record... ~7mo onboarding?

shite, son.

Depends on the company. Some companies I have applied for have interviewed me days after applying and made a decision within a week. On the other hand, you have companies like a certain health insurance company who has probably the slowest HR in the history of corporate America. Regardless, I wouldn't stop applying to places.

Stupid question, but did you ask them their timeframe? I know the usual answer from a company is, 'as soon as we find the right person'.
It is frustrating. Be patient. You really have no other option.

As an executive who has hired more people than I want to count-

In today's market it is often longer than before. Publicly traded corp make mid quarter financial decisions and things are often delayed until the next quarter

How big is the company? The bigger the more likely a delay

On average over the last 7 years the process after interview has taken 3-6 weeks with the above caveat

4 months. Needless to say, I was shocked and had to remember what the job was by the time I received the call.

6 months. And wouldn't you know it, it was a government job. I didn't take it because I had already found another.

8 months, five interviews. Didn't get the job, and they sent me a crappy form email only after I inquired. Had a better paying job two months later. All's well.

no second interview? thats crazy.

We interview twice and then always try to go to dinner with a candidate so you can see what they are really like after a beer or two.

I had several company interviews coming out of grad school that made me wait 6 to 8 weeks.

Then, I interviewed with my current and only company. The offer came the next business day. Been very happy ever since.

Keep your head up!
