Living on donations and taking vacations all the time

Know a guy who graduated from college and decided to become a missionary. He and his wife live in an expensive city, and they have lived off of donations since 2011. No job for either of them.
Since then, they have had 2 kids.
Every year, they campaign to friends and family members to give them money to live off of. They ask for a monthly donation, you can use credit cards or bank draft.
They routinely post online about their vacations..and they take more vacations than anyone I know. In a 12 month time period, they went to Europe, on a ski trip, and a couple of beach trips.
Is this common?
How long can this possibly go on for? They must be bringing in at least $50k annually, I would think. (I would say more but I'm assuming whatever they get is tax-free, I don't know though.)
I would feel incredibly guilty if I lived like this.

Are they doing mission work or are they taking the money and running? I know of several people who were living as missionaries but they were in third world countries and really needed help.

I want to proselytize to prostitutes.
Who will bankroll me?

All of this really doesn't add up. Are their living expenses covered by whatever organization they work for and the cash they raise is just free money? $50K in "an expensive city" with 2 kids isn't much money.

Call them out on social media.
I would, I make fun of my friends that ask for donations for medical bills from motorcycle wrecks. If you can't pay for the aftermath, you shouldn't be on a bike.

I have a friend who lives full time in Nicaragua and has for the last 5 years, she has started an orphanage and lives 100% off of donations, which includes her student loan payments.
She is upfront about her living expenses, lives on about $12k per year, and flies home a few times a year.
She lives anything but a lavish lifestyle, but I have to imagine it's tough to come home and buy a Starbucks coffee and worry about someone seeing you.
Europe is a bit much tho.

Aren't missionaries supposed to live in third world countries?

Not missionaries, but I know some people who had fundraisers a few years ago for an overseas adoption. They actually had several. I saw things posted on social media about these, and it was within a couple of months of the family taking a lengthy ski trip to the Rockies. And a few months later, pics of them enjoying the lake on a pricey boat. And then trips of the couple on an anniversary trip to somewhere in California for a week. I know where they live, what they drive, and both of their jobs. They aren't hurting for money. Just boggles my mind that they would either engage in or agree to fundraising for this when they clearly have the disposable income to take multiple expensive trips each year, drive the newest cars, etc.

50K for two adults and two children isn't shite.

I know of a family that does this too. Seems like a racket. Hopefully they are doing some good and constructive things along the way.

That's why I can't chastise these two assholes very much. They're taking money from suckers. Kinda like a much smaller scale TV preacher. Maybe they'll graduate to that! I'm not very religious but I hope there is a Hell for people who use religion as a means to live lavishly.

They mentor the Muslims who live in their city.
They do not go to other countries for mission work.

People have no fricking shame these days. 90% of the time Gofundme is no different than begging on a street corner like a worthless bum. At least those bums exert the effort to get out and beg. These worthless SOB's just create a bank account and wait for the cash to come in.
