It's pathetic. It's like most of our problems, too many uneducated people.

When driving, sometimes I miss seeing the "welcome to LA" sign. Roadside trash lets me know I am back home.

I say this all the time when I travel.

I drive Hwy 44 daily from G-town to Hwy 42. The amount of garbage in the ditches is incredible.

I do place some of the blame on garbage trucks that load into the top of the trucks. The trash just flies straight out.

Not sure if you are saying that it's stupid we pick up dog shite or not. Colorado's state animal is the shelter dog, we love our dogs here. If people didn't pick up their dog shite, all grass areas would be shite mine fields. I pick up and throw our dog poop weekly, it's the sanitary and decent thing to do.

It's not just the streets though. I exercise at the new LA Fitness on Siegan Lane. You should the trash scattered in front of their new building. It's been there for weeks and continues to get worse. I have no idea how their employees/managers can walk by it and do nothing about it. It's disgusting.

ask the baby boomers on this board. My dad said back in the 70s and 80s everyone just threw shite out the window. It was normal and expected

It's one of those things that will never get fixed. It's in the same category as crime and taxes. It will only change if the mindset changes which I do not see happening anytime soon. It also is really embarrassing in the amount of effort put to clean it. The prison work programs should be ontop of that.

I'm not a baby boomer but I grew up in 70's-80's. It was not normal to throw your trash out of the window in Louisiana, unless you were a savage.

If you look close you'll notice that half of the litter is beer cans/bottles

It seems like you were in the minority. There was major multiple campaigns to shake the littering is ok mindest in this country. It is definitely a known phenomenon from back in the day. Hell, anchorman makes a joke reference to it

Also, take a look at the gutters around Baton Rouge. Many of them are clogged with dirt and other debris making them useless.

I live in a pretty decent subdivision and I swear at least 1-2 times a week I have to pickup beer bottles or cans thrown out in my or my neighbors yard.

Queue the sorry for partying posts.

With the amount of prisons and prisoners, seems like it would be spotless.

I never noticed it until I moved out of state and came back. Its noticeably worse than other Southern states I've lived in. Its really gross and looks terrible. When I see people litter out of their car it makes me want to run them off the fricking road. How fricking hard is it to throw your crap away next time you get gas or go home?

This. And now I live in Utah They all stop after parades and pick up trash together. Old, young, everyone.

But before, I brought better half home for the first time, she's from Wisconsin, I prepped her and admitted I was slightly embarrassed.

Im no rocket surgeon, but I'd be willing to bet that there is a direct correlation between the amount of uneducated fatfrick inbred fat fricking retards every state has and the amount of litter on the side of the road. Im not surprised at all that our state looks like shite. Alot of people around here look like shite and have no self respect. Why would they have respect for their environment?
