Pilots have been shown to be brain dead NPCs in past accidents. Some pilots would brainlessly rely on those lights and the time they malfunction you have a collision.

That's the only group that was on the cockpit. It would be interesting to go back to the Holtgren (sp?) F-14 accident and from that time forward look to see the data on mishaps, accidents, crashes.
