Not sure what direction I want to go here, but everything is up for discussion.

I've been feeling pretty unmotivated, bored, lost, in a funk, whatever you want to call it, lately. I'm really just bored with life right now. I don't think I have a boring life though, and many people would be envious of how low stress my life is. I really can't complain about much, but here I am.

I have a beautiful girlfriend, an easy job that pays well, and some really great friends. What am I missing? I think I just hate normalcy. I hate routine. I feel like I just want me and my girlfriend to quit our jobs and go backpacking in Europe or something crazy.

Anyone here feel like this often? Anyone here content with the "normal" life of working 5 (or more) days a week, socializing on weekends, and maybe getting a couple vacations a year? I feel like there's just way more out there.

You are missing a relationship with God.

You sound like a pussy. Not much can be done about that.

Sounds like you need to form a local Fight Club.

Life seriously took a turn for the worse when the world "went and got itself in a big damn hurry" (Brooks).

I don't think I am, I have nothing to be depressed about. I'm pretty happy 99% of the time. Bored is a better word for it.

I feel that way all the time. As you get older you just start to accept that is the society we live in. Work, routine, rinse and repeat. You have to try to live in the moment. Live to help and support others. If you have children it helps you focus on their well being. But the routine can be mind numbing at times.

Have you ever traveled and explored the world? If not, do it. There's always time for what you're doing now.

We talk about your work
How your boss is a jerk
We talk about your church
And your head when it hurts
We talk about the troubles you been having with your brother
About your daddy and your mother
And your crazy ex-lover

We talk about your friends
And the places that you've been
We talk about your skin and the dimples on your chin
The polish on your toes and the run in your hose
And God knows, we're gonna talk about your clothes

You know talking about you makes me smile
But every once in awhile

I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think
What I like
What I know
What I want
What I see
I like talking about you, you, you, you usually
But occasionally
I wanna talk about me (me, me, me, me)
I wanna talk about me (me, me)

We talk about your dreams
And we talk about your schemes
Your high school team and your moisturizing cream
We talk about your Nana up in Munci, Indiana
We talk about your Grandma down in Alabama

We talk about your guys
Of every shape and size
The ones that you despise and the ones you idolize
We talk about your heart, bout your brain and your smarts
And your medical charts
And when you start

You know talking about you makes me grin
But every now and then

an easy job that pays well

There it is.

People want to work. They want to accomplish. At least, most people, I think.

Ambition is something that helps advance our species.

You have an easy job. I've been there. It fricking sucks. I nearly purchased a cheap piece of land north of Birmingham. Was going to start a small farm. I wanted to work. I wanted to sweat.

Decided to go to graduate school. I sometimes think I should have bought that farm.

Backpacking through Europe or taking off to Cambodia or moving to wine country in California - it'll give you something to satisfy that ambitious desire for the short term, but you'll end up back at this point eventually.

Find a tough job. Conquer it.
