So, to the people, they would claim Rauner was useless, which is true, because he couldn't pass or get anything on the books, as Mad Mike and his crew would shoot it down immediately. If they couldn't make a buck off it, they weren't interested.
You must live in Illinois because everything you're saying is dead on. And yet Pritzker still had the balls to say something along the lines of "four years of doing nothing is enough" during the campaign in his ads. Yeah you fricking bowling ball, the democratic super majority cut him off at the knees no matter what he did.
It's disgusting.
Oh, JB's net worth is $3.2 billion.

Not Illinois, St.Louis, but we get majority of the Springfield stuff, especially on local news, with St.Louis tv stations having a nice chunk of S.Illinois
Mike Madigan is the best thief in history of politics. He never had to leave Illinois to steal millions. While majority have to go to DC to get their hands on that cash, he never did, just got himself a Gang, purged Springfield, got his people into office and stole, stole, stole.

Perhaps no politician in the history of this country has pushed through more property taxes increases than Madigan. And what’s Mike day job you might ask?
Well, he’s a partner at a law firm that handles property tax and assessment challenges.
So every tax increase means millions in billable hours for his firm.
It’s hard to make this stuff up.

Salt Lake is my favorite US city
I’ve been thinking about taking a trip up there this summer and then going up to Yellowstone and Grande Tetons. I’d love to hear recommendations for things to see, eat, drink, and do around the area. Feel free to email me at bryndenblackfish@yahoo.com

I never hear about their creative ways to cut fricking spending.
If you cut spending, you can't give the DNC voters raises.

I’ve been all over and Chicago is one of my favorite cities to visit, but not sure I could deal with all the crime and corruption in addition to the clueless liberals running things

SLC is a fine city, and it's beautiful and Park City and the mountains are close, but it is far from a high energy, party town in the summer. Cuz Mormon. It's not a jovial, fun, welcoming scene. Getting better, but does not even come close to holding a candle to the fun that is the Chicago summer.
Also, reminds me of when UW played at BYU a couple years ago. They're not used to people like us.
quote:
Wisconsin fans, in town to watch their Top 10-ranked team take on BYU, had cleaned him and his bar — ABG’s Libation Emporium — out of a few items after he decided to open at 10 a.m. Saturday — two hours earlier than usual — ahead of the game’s 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
quote:
Whiting said ABG’s capacity is 128 people and that the bar was “packed” for three hours with patrons who were “a little loud,” but otherwise were the best group of traveling fans he’s seen in 27 years of ownership.
“Financially, it‘s the biggest day I’ve ever had here,” he said, adding that it was “triple” what the bar’s normal income would be from a regular day.
There's a reason the UW/LSU game in Green Bay was so much fun a few years back. Kindred spirits.

It doesn't have to be magical, it just has to come close.

To which I replied that it's kind of odd if Chicago is the best city around that he's wanting to move.
Visited this time last year and it was amazing. An absurd amount of things to do and you almost never even have to hop in a car. I walked or took the bus everywhere I went. It was a solid 70 to low 80s with low humidity too when it was a heat index of 105 back in Louisville at the same time.
But he’s right, you’re going to get nickled and dimed to hell and back in taxes, fees, tolls, etc. I think the fees between city and state alone bumped my Hamilton ticket up almost $125 bucks. I can’t imagine what’s paid in fees and taxes living there.

Metropolis here. Chicago has ruined my state. I moved across the bridge to Paducah Kentucky. Still own acres on Shawnee Forest south of Carbondale and house in Metropolis. Oh and, frick a FOID card. I wish the initiative to let Chicago be its own state would come true.

I lived in Chicago for 10 years (Lincoln Park, Lakeview and west loop) and I miss those days. This was before getting married and having a kid. There is no way I could live there now but it’s a great place to go back and visit. My buddy lives in Lincoln Park still so I have a free place to stay. I’m coming back in town next week for the Dead & Co show at Wrigley and then again Labor Day weekend for fantasy football draft.
If I was single and no kids then I’d probably still be in Chicago. Due to the property taxes even renting an apartment is getting out of control. Our 3BR/2.5 BA condo in West Loop was 3k/mo and daycare was $500/wk when we finally decided to leave and come to suburbs of Atlanta.
The one thing i truly miss is not having a bar close to me that i can walk to, drink all day and walk home. My favorite 2 bars are River Shannon and Third Rail Tavern. Both of them I was at so much that I become friendly with the employees. Actually got a BJ from one of the bartenders at River Shannon in the girls’ bathroom at River Shannon!

Eh. I haven’t seen any material increase in taxes in the 5 years I’ve been in NC.
Yeah McCrory was voted out but that was solely due to that stupid bathroom bill that he signed. The bill protected no one and did serious economic harm, which was 100% predictable before it got to his desk

Not entirely true. There are those of us who try, but it's a losing battle, barely worth the time to cast my vote. But the best of the worst mayoral candidates won, whom I voted for (she's a democrat, but there weren't any republicans that got close to making the run off).
