Kind of. The honoree is actually there to draw in certain policy makers and other influential people. The sponsorship tiers are set up to give the top sponsors better access to the big wigs.

An event like this is designed to attract government officials who want to be seen with a pop culture icon and appear to be down with the people. They, in turn, are schmoozed on by sponsors, who get more access to the VIP's the more they donate. The organization gets money from corporate sponsors and the company officials get exposure to policy makers.

The celebrity is honored and gets the PR that comes with being a swell guy, but it's really just what we call "cause-based marketing." George Carlin put it best when he said that celebrities champion causes "1. to increase their popularity, 2. to make it look like they give a shite about something and 3. to ease the guilt of having so much more than they deserve."

So again, Leo is a huge hypocrite.

In other words:

I don't agree so he is a huge hypocrite.

In other words, you're a fricking moron.

Leo talks about corporate greed, but makes millions per film.

Leo talks about personal sacrifices and accountability regarding the environment, but flies around the world on private jets, owns a huge yacht and numerous homes.

I'd say that makes him a huge fricking hypocrite. Get his dick out of your throat and might see this.

Revenant was awful

Acting was great, DiCaprio and Hardy definitely delivered, but the story was slow, and it felt average at best.

And he's right. It's clueless wonders like you who can't see through the sociopathic nature of corporations in general and the oil industry in particular. They are run by sociopaths and now that they are considered people by our Supreme Court these sociopaths have the sanction to run amok internationally with very few checks and balances. Wake up for frick's sake. frick corporations and especially the oil industry.

You hit the nail on the head. Why is it that because someone is good at one thing, and usually an entertainment type thing, the public believes that they become experts on everything else? If he was just some guy off the street, who would give a damn what he thought about anything? Just another creation of the media, held up to the sheep to get them to follow someone's agenda.

Wow. No generalizations there. And because you agree with him, people who disagree are "clueless wonders". I have a few suggestions for you: Give away your car. Turn off your electricity. Put away your computer. All of those are and depend upon products from corporations run by "sociopaths".

OK. We don't currently do that. This actor doesn't know shite about oil, Elon Musk is working to change the world.

Is this his leftist push for Oscar sympathy?

So you think corporations are people too?

And judging by the way you curse their collective name, is it safe to say you hate all of them?

fricking racist.
