The Hollywood star blasted the coal, oil and gas industries as he received the World Economic Forum’s Crystal Award. He’s sort of adding insult to injury for those industries, given how commodity prices have been getting crushed lately. Royal Dutch Shell on Wednesday announced plans to axe 10,000 jobs.
“We simply cannot afford to allow the corporate greed of the coal, oil and gas industries to determine the future of humanity,” DiCaprio said Tuesday, as shown in this BBC video.
Those comments came as he called on the elites gathered in the Swiss resort town to help fight climate change.
He also reportedly added: “Those entities with a financial interest in preserving this destructive system have denied and even covered up the evidence of our changing climate.”
“Enough is enough. You know better. The world knows better. History will place the blame for this devastation squarely at their feet,” DiCaprio said.

We're talking about the oil industry. Bugger off, that's such a tired line.

An actor with an opinion... How original....

I always love when an ignorant celebrity expresses his adolescent views on real world situations that they do not exist in, then go on to act hypocritical of. I'm sure he drives a Prius and uses no products made from oil. Please, TELL ME MORE!!!!

Typical behavior from liberals, socialists and communists... especially those that are multi-millionaires.
Disappointing though... I've always liked him.

I wonder what he was paid for his latest film?
In light of that, his criticisms "ring hollow".

He is the one that is scared of Lady Gaga, right?

Do you know who is going to be the biggest solar/wind/nuclear/unicorn farts energy company in the future?
Exxon Mobil, RDS, BP, Chevron, etc.
They're energy companies, and as soon as a cost-effective energy solution becomes viable, they'll be the leaders in that field as well.
Not only that, but $30/bbl oil is about the worst thing possible for development of energy alternatives.

How big was the carbon footprint from the making of The Revenant? Or, for that matter, of the private luxury yacht he was partying on in the Mediterranean?

Leo is an actor....he does nothing, and he counts for nothing in everything else that isn't acting. He should be the last one lamenting about other's greed.

Leonardo DiCaprio is as great of a humanitarian as is he an actor. He's a true liberal lion.
