I usually go out on Black Friday after the initial rush. Anytime after 8, the crowds are usually much thinner and there are still some decent deals on things out there as stores overstock some good items.

Lowe's Black Friday deals go on for like a week. I went and picked up a Dewalt 20v drill for like 80 bucks there last year the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Can't beat that.

Nicer outlet malls are great the week of Black Friday. I'd never actually go on Friday, but often they have deals like 50% off everything all week and an extra 10% off of that on BF.
I don't particularly like outlet malls, or BF, but I do hit that up yearly before Thanksgiving.
