Call your insurance company. Tell them this little guy's information. Have them go after his insurance. Step back and enjoy the show.

He was on a bicycle (not a motorcycle if that wasn't clear). No auto insurance coverage.

Make a property damage claim through your UM.

Not legal advice

She was parked in line like all of these cars--in fact, this is the exact street it took place. She was actually up on the curb a bit more so than many of these cars.

But you can't prove that.

Doesn't matter. I had a 4 wheeler hit and run me. I turned it over to them, I paid my deduct able, they paid balance and went after him hard. About a month ago I got a check from them formula deductible. His parents insurance
Covered it.

But I'd call the parents.

No to interrupt the UM dispute here, but it is my understanding that only applies when the other person is a DRIVER.

Do you know any lawyers personally? If so I would have one send a demand letter certified mail to his parents. Or send it yourself, here's a template. If the kid is being a little shite, it's likely learned behavior from his folks so a friendly phone call might not be as effective.

The critical question is, were you protected from mayhem? Or do you have cut rate insurance?

The kid is 18 y/o, in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and his home address is one of the swankiest towns in the U.S. I found him and his parents online. He's saying he doesn't have the money to do more than he's offering.

PISSING ME OFF!

Wait, you're pissed because he doesn't have money but his parent's do and you want money from them for something they didn't do?

I read about a somewhat similar case recently. Long story short, kid's parents homeowners ins. covered it.

I would drag the parents into it if for nothing else than to show what an a-hole they raised. May not bother them but it just might shame or embarrass them into paying. A fricking light assembly will run about $500 easy for that car. Why should he not try? Just because he's a dumbass doesn't mean he shouldn't be held responsible for his actions.

The kid offered to fix it. Just wanted to do it himself instead of paying the deductable
