How about by not stealing the car in the first place?

Stupid lawsuit is stupid.

I suppose one argument could be that the plaintiff's daughter was not in favor of stealing the vehicle but was trapped in the car for the spur of the moment joy ride, but how could you ever prove that?

Regardless, it seems like a big stretch to sue the police for doing their job.

Not to people like this. Everything that happens to them is someone else's fault.

#1: do not steal your friends car, with wreck less methods evading police.

ETA: the "at fault" party seems to be the driver leaving the keys in the car with his friends, and the driver who decided to drive and run from the police and crash into the pond.

Good I hope they and the attorney clean house.

Another example of cops doing more harm than good.

Honestly this makes you realize how a requirement for police to work their own communities makes sense. I'm my saying racist cops tried to make an illegal stop without probable cause and then tried to cover it up or anything...

This is why blacks distrust police. We are taught to stop when police hit their lights. They are taught not to trust the police. It's all in what you know and I don't fault them for that seeing as how this crash could have been prevented if cops had done their duty.

"At least 14 deputies responded to the crash scene and none went into the pond to attempt to rescue the girls"........... not their job
