You shouldn't be eating anything within like 2-3 hours of sleep

That’s an old way of thinking.

There’s actually some decent research out there showing that eating a small bowl of cereal or about 100calories or so of some fruits helps you sleep better due to a glucose spike while you’re sleeping and aids with muscle recovery.

When I worked exclusively second shift, for a long time my food vice was cereal before bed (usually around 1:30am). I knew it was garbage then, and wasn't good. Even then I would have laughed in the face of anyone who tried to sell me on it being any kind of "healthy".

I knew a family that would eat their cereal out of mixing bowls. Seriously, one box would last about 2-3 bowls for them. They're grocery bill in the 1990s for a family of four was like $600-800/week.

For people that regularly exercise and/or training. Not for the sedentary desk jockeys.

I contend that almost all social problems would diminish if people stopped eating like utter shite - ruining their bodies and minds.

Tough call between that and fathers abandoning their children

Why is cereal a breakfast food anyway? Cereal is pretty much dessert. What is a breakfast food? Other than a food that is eaten to break the fast after sleep. Which is completely arbitrary now that we have largely gotten away from the natural rhythm.

I’ve pretty much just given up on cereal because I was at the point of just eating plain bran cereal in skim milk.

Fast, easy food has been around decades. We’re all so “stressed” and distracted now, those options are more desirable than cooking a healthy dinner or exercising.
But it's not just "fast easy food". They've foisted horrible ingredients and habits on even the most mindful of consumers. The constant badmouthing of beef and animal products + the constant insistence upon nasty, destructive seed oils is at an all time high.

I am not exaggerating with my thread title. I think poisoning the body leads to a poisoned brain. To put it in terms this board might appreciate more: I think it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the median "non-binary" young female has anywhere close to a healthful diet. Rather, I'm somewhat confident it's more likely to be extra high in all the nasty shite I've railed against. Things like depression flow directly from this slow-motion poisoning.

If you've ever traveled to Europe you'll quickly realize American food portions are too large and loaded with sugar. There's a reason we are the most obese country in the world

I don't know for sure but since I've gotten older, I can't eat a big bowl of cereal before bed. Especially cherios. I wake up at 3am feeling really uncomfortable like I might be coming down with a fever. Hard to explain but I'm up for the rest of the night.

So I don't do that anymore. Unless its cinnamon toast crunch. Then the aftermath is worth that sweet crunchy goodness.

Then at the end of the commercial they show a massive spread with a bowl of cereal, an apple, a banana, a saucer of coffee, and a glass of orange juice and points out that "it's part of a balanced breakfast". LMAO, yeah I mean that is a part of hte breakfast you've presented I suppose. Aint nothing balanced/healthy/nutritious about it though
LOL Yes! The "balanced breakfast" is often just an expanded smorgasbord of cheap carbs and seed oils itself. How did this happen to us?

I agree with you.

My mental health is typically at its best when I’m eating a lot of fruit and veggies.

When I used to eat almost exclusively meat and drank a ton, my mental health was complete shite.

It wasn't the meat, it was the boozer. High quality animal products are the single best thing for your body.
