Whatever you do, don't ask your employer these questions. Ask a message board on how your job works.

Realize that if you try to stretch just to cover Holidays they may not allow it.

Then again they may not care.

Also, if you haven't turned in your notice how do you know you last day is the 26th?

ETA: Are you, someone who thinks their two weeks notice has to be exactly two weeks?

Start date is officially 12/1 so that would make the most sense to be my end date at current job.

The more important issue is whether you have benefits (insurance) between 11/27 and 11/30. Don't get sick or in an accident.

Your 2 weeks or whatever notice you gave should have been at the end of the work week. if you are salary and the office is closed thurs and fri you should get paid.

The last few jobs I had, my health insurance started on the first day of work. It was the same way for my wife. I wanna say when Clinton or W. Bush was in office, Congress passed a bill to prevent lags in health insurance between jobs.

Cobra was passed to prevent lags between jobs

it's very rare to be eligible on your first day of employment

I like money

On the insurance stuff, I definitely need to figure that out. I plan on moving Thanksgiving day, then hitting the slopes Friday and Saturday if the early season snow reports look decent. I don't want to hurt myself doing that and not be covered at the time

Company doesn't have to accept your two weeks notice. They could let you go immediately and not pay you those two weeks, but most won't do that.

You should try and guilt them into paying you for Christmas too. You were good to the company and jesus would have wanted it.
