I respect you coming to get a second opinion.

That being said, no phone should be held by an individual behind the steering wheel of a car. Ever.

Hard lesson learned. Hope he has to pay some of his hard-earned money and will learn a lesson that could save his life. (red light today, interstate tomorrow)

$500 from what I can tell. I think they just raised the minimum.

I see people texting and driving everyday with no consequences.

If he would have been moving I would not have had any sympathy, but I don't believe he was.

Totally different.

You can't automatically be "sober" when the light turns green. But you can put your cell phone down.

Tell your son to put on makeup next time instead of texting he would be untouchable.

Good for him. Tell him to put the phone down before he kills someone.

Technically, you were not "driving",

Except, you were driving, both technically and otherwise.

ETA: This reminds me of the trash who park in the fire lane at a grocery store and then insist that they aren't "parking" because they are sitting behind the wheel waiting on their lazy passenger to come out.

How is he going to kill someone stopped at a red light?

And why is everyone assuming that because he made an honest mistake one time that he drives and texts? That is not necessarily true?

My question is how can they prove you're texting rather than fooling with your gps or changing a song on your phone.

Sounds like your son was dumb for not looking around before grabbing his phone.

Just quit trying to justify or exonerate you frickin kid. shite happens. Pay the ticket. What the hell is your point of arguing his case here? Take all your whiny, "my boy a good boy" shite to the judge.
Or tell Jr to pay his fine and be smarter next time. You sound like a huge enabler always making excuses for your kids frick ups.

LOL...... More hypocritical assumptions by another perfect human being. Yea right asshat.

And my point is.... There are plenty of people actually driving and texting that the smart arse cop could be stopping, instead of someone at a red light. Why didn't he wait until the light turned green to see if my son was still texting when he took off?

The answer is the cop was an a-hole and this was nothing more than a money grab.

Exactly why most statutes like this are shite because they are so poorly written. Then again, I don't think they are poorly written by accident.
