Dated a Korean girl straight from Seoul for awhile. Even if it tasted good, liking sweets and showing enjoyment out of it is extremely frowned upon. IE they'd call you fat and shame you for eating it. It was that way for a lot of experiences, not just food.

You must not watch k dramas. Girls like her are the jaded leading lady who over time succumbs to the boyish charms of the neighborhood troublemaker who is just misunderstood. Underneath that tough exterior is a dreamer who just needed a place to rest her head.
