I've had mine for 2 years and have had zero issues. I still use Microsoft office bc of excel mostly and it all runs great.
Before, I had an HP that couldn't load properly anymore and a dell that kept having virus problems.
The Haswells won't be out until the fall, so you'll be buying 2-year old tech (i5/i7) if you get one now.
It's rumored that Apple may not update the regular Macbook Pros, leaving the Retina based Pros as their only higher end notebook.
Honestly, though, I'm waiting for a Haswell based Surface Pro. With OneNote and a digitizer pen, the Pro is an incredible note taking device. It's fast and quite versatile in terms of the physical form factors it can assume - I can hold it in my hands like a tablet, set it up like a notebook with a full tactile keyboard within seconds, or can hook it up to an external monitor. The real issue with the first generation unit, however, is battery life.
I do think the Surface Pro is one of the more underrated devices on the market currently, and a second generation unit sporting a Haswell chipset would likely make it a practical alternative for quite a few people.
