But I have become obsessed with the Rolex Milgauss with the green crystal. (I don't know how to post pics) Any of you have experience with buying a knock off Rolex that lasts for a few years? It's not a status thing. I just love the way it looks but am not willing to drop $7k on a watch.
Buy a real one. Cut back on expenses, work extra hours, tug a few penises....whatever you can do to save up enough for the real thing. Shop around, talk to a few local watchmakers, do some more online research to get to a more well reasoned position on what exactly it is you want. Rolex cost as much as they do because they are rock solid and are one of the few left that still make their own movements (calibers) in-house. Virtually every other mechanical watch company sources their movements from ETA (Tag, Hamilton, Ball, Omega, Longines, Rado, Blancpain, Tissot, and many others) so you could spend $600 or $6000 on two different watches that use the same guts. I have a Hamilton and it's a great watch but I'm still looking for a nice all stainless Rolex for the right price (I'll probably settle for an Omega Seamaster though). With the real thing you'll have something that will last the rest of your life and will hold its value, with a fake you'll be throwing it the garbage in a few years.
