Ask your Dr. for Toradol. It is an anti inflammatory that will give you 100% relief in about a half an hr.

if you are not a big coke/beer drinker etc etc, you probably got the stone due to dehydration.

Pretty much describes my kidney stone experience.

Don't listen to the people in here. Beer doesn't cause kidney stones.

If anything, you should drink more beer when you have them

Also depends what kind of stones you have

My wife has chronic kidney stones. Literally, one a month. Most aren't bad, about the size of a piece of sand. You can see them on a scan, just sitting there. It's when they get stuck in your ureter tube that's the worst for her. She just had outpatient surgery a month ago to remove it because regular lithotripsy wouldn't be effective.

Then she has to pull out the stent five days later.

babies are by design, tried and true, DNA over the generations.

kidney stones are not intended to go where they have to fit.
some are big, some are smaller, some are odd shaped. you get an odd shaped big one, you are in for a rough go.

There is a ton of crap in this thread. First you need to see what kind it is. Most common are calcium oxalate. If it is this, there are a ton of causes. Could be dehydration, high calcium, low vitamin d, parathyroid problems, and on and on. Take vitamin b and magnesium. This will help to keep this type of stone from forming. Everyone is different with the pain. I get toradol and dilaudid from the doctor and will still have pain. Like another poster said, use a heating pad with pain pills to make it bearable.

Absolutely get Toradol (Keterolac). It actually worked better than morphine when I had my kidney stones. I was getting morphine shots every few hours and they were not giving me enough relief. I got the Toradol shot and got almost immediate relief.

If you are at the Drs, then ask for a shot of Toradol and then followup with the Toradol pills. The shot kicks in immediate relief and the pills maintain it. (You can still take the opiate pain killers also if need for extra help to stay ahead of the pain).

I was in horrific pain because my 1st kidney stone was the size of a hotwheels car. They had to cut it out of my kidney thru my back.

Worst pain I ever had was when I had kidney stones in April 2014. It started with sharp, but pounding pain in my back at work one morning. I could not get comfortable in any position. I took off early to go home and stretch out not knowing what it was. Every bump that pickup truck hit on the way home was murder.

The pain moved around toward my groin after I got home. My wife works at a hospital and she knew it was a kidney stone and told me that I need to go to the doctor. I kept telling her it will be fine and it will pass but it just kept getting so much worse.

It felt like I was being stabbed in the groin and hit with a hammer in the junk simultaneously. Honestly no other way to describe it. I finally agreed to go to the hospital but I couldn't move for a while.

The pain eventually subsided a little when it moved into my bladder and she drove me to the hospital. They gave me nice drugs. It kind of dulled the sharp, stabbing pain for the rest of the stone's trip out....but the pounding pain was still there.

Weird night to be on strong pain killers. We had a tornado outbreak that night in the Memphis area and my wife and I were up watching the news alerts.

Had another kidney stone pass when I was in Istanbul on business a year later but I just toughed it out in the hotel room that night. It was nowhere near as bad as the first one. Wasn't interested in going to a hospital in Turkey either.

I drink a lot of water now and cut back on the caffeine. Don't want to go through that again.

Good grief. Go see a urologist and let him take care of that before it decides to move.

The pain is dulled by opioids at this point, but I can't imagine anything being worse than it was at 3 am this morning - even childbirth.

Most women that have both given birth and had kidney stones will tell you stones are worse.

This didn't work for me. Neither did morphine. Now this stuff called dilaudid was awesome.

Drink lots of water with lemon or lime. My dad has only had one stone, but after seeing other people with them I'm definitely more conscientious about preventing them.

Get olive oil, lemon juice, a shot glass and a cup.

Put two shots of each into a cup and drink it down. Do this every 4 hours until it passes.

I do this every time I get one and it helps break the bastard down.

Great god, man. I had one at 8mm once and prayed for the sweet release of death. It took two litho procedures to break it up.
