Nah. I’ve driven through bad areas of New Orleans, both accidentally and on purpose. It has nothing on the scale of North Philly.

Amazing how some people end up this way. I’ve done plenty recreational.....it could have been me...

Why should he shut up? Have you been around the country? Almost every large population center looks like this. Its such a fricking waste.

Taliban can fix this in a week.

Seems like not administering narcan for free could also solve this problem

Cool post 4 pages in. Brings a lot to the conversation.

84 percent of the world’s opium comes from Afghanistan. I’m pretty sure the warlords would just sign them up for a heroin rewards plus card.

I don’t understand how the homeless drug micro transactions are profitable for dealers. The economics never makes sense to me

There are dealers on each corner. Each dealer is surrounded by a hoard of zombies. I was there at 10am. They probably make bank on quantity.

NOLA has some hideously had neighborhoods…no doubt.
But it’s minor league compared to Philadelphia.

But like, how much money could these people possibly have? Dealing with these disgusting creatures pulling crumbled out/wadded up $1s and begging you for more/a hit. How much actual profit per transaction could there be?
And then taking into account all the time and risk that goes along with being a drug dealer in the first place, having to drive and stand around in these sketchy arse areas, etc. Just doesn’t seem lucrative but it must be

Disclaimer: This is all speculation.
I would bet the dealers are organized from the gangs. They probably have predetermined outposts. Pool their money. Probably highly armed as well.
I’m telling you the number of users in that area was ASTOUNDING. $5 times like a never-ending stream of addicts likely adds up to thousands of dollars per day per street corner. Combined with your partners up and down an area covering multiple square miles. It’s probably hugely profitable.
Added: I’ve been to big cities. I’m not just a local Louisiana bumpkin who ain’t never seent the big city life. The area of north Philadelphia had a scale of desperation and hopelessness that a smaller city like New Orleans or Baton Rouge has no measure of.

It is status to be a dealer but only pays minimum wage in reality. But you don’t have some 17 year old manager harshin’ your vibe about hurrying up with a number three order of a heifer with extra cheese.

That looks like the streets of Luanda Angola. I’ve walked and ridden a lot of them.

That is what I don't understand either. How do these people with these expensive habits who don't work have the money to keep feeding their habit?

But we got fentanyl now. The cartels get the chemicals from China and process it before sending it across the (open) border, where it eventually gets to the bent-over people.
