Just saw a very bright and very green shooting star.

It was the brightest one I've ever seen, also the largest in size of the fireball and tail. But the strangest thing about it was the color. It was an almost neon green.
Anyone ever seen something similar? Also, what type of materials would cause a meteor to burn green?

I've seen a couple. I'm afraid I'm no help on the other question, though. Pretty cool sight.

I think that copper and borax both produce a green flame when burned.

Yellow and blue materials, duh.

Alabama, between Birmingham and Huntsville. Green ones seem to be pretty rare. Nickle and copper burn green so that could be what the rock was mainly composed of. Or aliens and kryptonite

Meteorites are often green when they burn through our atmosphere. See it pretty frequently out here.

I've seen a couple like that with the tail and changing colors as it burned out. Don't remember green though. Usually orange/red/white.

I've seen one exactly like that over Sierra Vista, AZ.

I might have seen the same thing. Old lady and I are are hanging out on the patio and the sky brightens as if headlights are shining on you. Just lasted for 2 seconds or so. Found from east to west. Very weird. Also could have sworn we heard a boom about 1 minute after the flash like it exploded in the atmosphere. I was a very muffled but Lou's sounding boom. I was hoping someone on the OT say it and would post.
