You might not want to do that; you'll notice a new faraway look in her eyes afterwards at the least opportune moments...

If your ins co doesn't pay for your car you don't pay a deductible.

Unless you really dented it good I would get some estimates to fix before calling insurance. Maybe cheaper in long run to pay out of pocket to fix. No doubt its probably 1200-1500 in damage though. Same thing happened here.

Why would people park in their yards? Is this a "hood thing"?

Any higher deductible lowers your carrier's potential exposure. Lower exposure = lower premiums for you.

New neighbors moved in like a week ago their driveway is about 80 yards down the street
I'm confused, why did he park 80 yards from his driveway and apparently 5 yards from your driveway?

S-O #2 & I were married 18 years. During that time, she had 5 accidents, all in reverse.

Our hoa doesn't allow overnight parking in the street for that very reason. I hate my neighbors. For some reason their company ALWAYS parks in the street as opposed to their empty driveway.

I wish my HOA had this policy

My neighbor has quadruplet 17 y/o's, they all have cars and park on the street instead of their driveway. Not to mention they have an open lot across the street and next door to their house.

If you're only paying for the neighbors car there's no deductible.

My wife did the same thing except to our new neighbors. My next car for the wife WILL have backup sensors with an alarm and flashing lights if possible.

ETA: If I were you, I would look into paying out of pocket if less than $1000 in damage to avoid filing a claim.
