...but only for pedestrians and bikes.

BREC plans on building new, 10-mile bike path in Baton Rouge

Feds are paying for most of it. Did this answer anyone's prayers?

Here's a photo of someone walking on BREC's bike path instead of the adjacent sidewalk on North Blvd.

Good to know. I'm sure it's in conjunction with the "proposed" River Park.

It's not a bad thing... it's just more of a pointless thing.

I don't know about you, but I love commuting in heavy rain and high temperatures through the ghetto on a bike.

I may as well just sell the Chevrolet since I won't need it anymore.

So people are going to be taking a bike trail through north BR?

Yeah this will end well.

In all seriousness, I do think it is a good thing. Louisiana has an obesity problem and we need better recreational infrastructure to facilitate a healthy cultural shift.

This will connect to the existing downtown area bike paths (which are very nice) and the levee-top bike path. There are similar plans to build one along the creeks in south Baton Rouge between LSU and the medical district in the Essen/Bluebonnet area.

I support the construction of these trails- especially if the feds are paying for most of it.

I was just thinking "you know what BR needs?" A 10 mile bike path through the ghetto to downtown." Looks like BREC is on top of the important recreational issues plaguing BR.

A nice, clean, city-maintained place for the drug dealers to sell heroin and shoot people.

Here's the NBR development Gravy has been begging / whining / crying for, but I bet you won't ever see his fatass pedaling over a mile on this "loop"

Great motivation to ride fast and not give up. Similar to biking through the Serengeti and being chased by lions.

100 = the over/under set point for number of assults the first year of the paths opening.

I honestly don't think BREC would build this without the federal grant. I think they have been accused of ignoring north Baton Rouge and are going to make an effort to improve parks there while they plan for relocating the Baton Rouge zoo from Baker to somewhere that doesn't suck.
