Apparently they are suing the recall petitioners to release all the names of the people who have signed thus far. Anyone know what George’s has to gain by keeping that disgusting filth in power?

So they can go after them personally?

I'm sure that will gain a ton of support from the community and won't blow up in their face.

How much more money hemorrhaging does the Advocate need to do for John Georges to go the frick away?

I'd subscribe to Tigerdroppings or Kiran before I gave one cent to the joke arse Advocate.

Just like here in EBR where the paper, BRAC, LSU hierarchy, the big hospitals and the downtown crowd all fought our St George petition.

Take heart, the petition won the day and we won the election. Unfortunately many of the same people failed to give up and honor the will of the voters in SG. They are still fighting.

It's public record, so the names are going to be turned over at some point.

Pass or fail

The campaign withholding is only so they don't show how woefully short they have fallen.

The shitshow to follow the recall will be entertainment.

That's diffe(R)ent.

One could make a case that the St. George idea is bad for the BR Metro as a whole. LaToya ain't good for shite.

Until the petion is submitted the names on the petition should be the work product of the organization. The media should have no legal right to the list until it is submitted and files for public record.

That they haven't gathered enough signatures by this time tells you all you need to know about New Orleans for the next 20 years.

I think it's more that they know that getting those names, and publishing them, will lead to clicks that generate revenue.

Also, I feel like most media members would love for all voting to be public record as well.

I still don’t understand how they can stop it.

The recall signatures are publicly available once they turn them in to the state.

I guess frick tAdvocate for wanting them sooner but the recall crew saying they believe in the signer's right to privacy is funny since they know, or should know, that all signatures will be made public as a matter of law.

Maybe ideally. That isn't how the law is written though. When the first signature is written it is public record.

Politicians wrote the La recall rules to make sure they never got recalled.

Did you know that the fact you voted, or did not vote, is public record?

Obviously your actual votes are not, but the fact that you cast votes in an election is.

That's always bothered me as well.
