"As governor, I will continue to be an active participant in the ongoing conversation with federal authorities so that we can be partners in the effort to both accommodate refugees who are fleeing from religious persecution and ensure that all our people are safe."

Great details.

I fricking hate a politician that supports a cause just because his opponent is against it

You know his campaign has to be in freak out mode right now.

What about the Christian Syrian refugees or the Assyrians? Many Syrians are not Muslim, and would not be ISIS or Daesh as people are calling them now.

No private citizens are paying for it. It's charities working in coordination with the government that are footing the bill. Not to mention this is the only rational move to make. What the hell is stopping 100 Syrians from living in Nola going to accomplish?

I don't understand your question. What about them?

That's too nuanced for the Billy Bobs to understand.

Isn't this the first ideal that America was founded on?

Already a large group of these in South Louisiana and Mississippi. Let's not pretend that is what is headed this way.

Funny to me: my in-laws are Christian Syrians (2nd generation) and are dead set against taking them in to this country.

Let me just play devil's advocate, then...wouldn't this be the ideal opportunity for a cell to get into the country?

There were very few things that could have torpedoed that campaign...he pretty much did it.

Times have changed buddy and if we don't wake up and realize it before it's too late, you'll see what happened in Paris happening here. It may already be too late.

It's going to be like a 100 people, mainly women and children. They're going to be super vetted, and problem monitored oncecthey're in the country. Not to mention we're a huge country with thousands of miles of coastline and fairly porous borders. If terrorists want to find a way onto soil they will. All this proclamation and posturing does is make us seem petty, fearful, and overreactionary in being "strong" over an issue that's not even an issue
