You should see how much he is spending on his big day. Ridiculous. But all the governors do it. Doesn’t make right, still ridiculous.

Nah. Most politicians hate civil service and the rigid regulations that come with it.

I’ve already heard major noise about how much the incoming Governor hates Civil Service. He’s worked in state government and knows his ability to make any major changes is pretty much impossible. It’s like GM dealing with the UAW.

When people ask me what is the best thing about retirement my answer is - there are no more Monday mornings.

Is that when he begins reducing the size of state government, or was that even a campaign position of his?

Nope, Landry is a big government social conservative. They worst kind of conservative but the kind Louisiana loves.

Most inauguration costs are covered by donors. The tax payers aren’t paying for that. I think the sooner he takes office the better. JBE has had 8 years to screw things up. Give Landry a chance and maybe, just maybe we can reach our potential as a state. Let’s be optimistic.

I have hope for Landry, but he won’t be able to perform miracles here. It’ll take a lot more than one or two terms with a conservative governor to fix this place.

Landry has no plan beyond business as usual. The legislators have no plan. Maybe we can finally get constitutional carry passed in this state but beyond that I see nothing but continued stagnation and out-migration.

Just out of curiosity I wonder how much our of state tax dollars are being spent on this inauguration BS.

You sure about that?

The Civil Service is a fricking joke. It’s run by incompetent retards with degrees from Phoenix University. They just recently voted to end testing requirements for certain jobs, which I’m sure will attract the best & the brightest. Their training department that they boast about is full of self inflated ego alphabet DEI hires that don’t produce any kind of training worth a frick.

With all that being said, it’s been largely rumored that Landry is about to implement a hiring freeze. And rightfully so. As a state employee, I could write a trilogy on the shite I see daily. We could cut the state workforce in half and have the same results but save many tax dollars.

So much needs to be overhauled. Civil Service rules, organization of departments (probably requires constitutional changes); this is a two-term fix.

Little concerned he named a fellow attorney to head DOTD?!
