So now visiting a gas station in Texas amounts to a status symbol.

Strong work Louisiana.

Mine is covering up my faded 30A sticker until I can get a new one.

You noticing is only encouraging them. In fact, I'm buying one to put on my car now.

I think people are amazed by the scale and audacity of it. While it is very easy for the high- brow to mock, you have to admit there is something quintessentially American about it.

It's not just in LA. They are all around TX. People will wear the T-shirts. I don't get it. Yes the bathroom is nice. Yes, it's a big selection. But I never go out of my way to stop at one, much less advertise for them.

Agree that it is incredibly American. I just don't understand the cultlike fixation. It's a grocery store with fuel pumps.

Also hard for me to imagine that business model being profitable, at least to the extent that their rate of expansion would suggest.

Not sure what is more trashy...putting a Buccees or 30A sticker on your car.

I've never been in one that's not slammed and only the gas is cheap. The food and what not, has to have decent margins. Not to mention all the crap they sell in there that rednecks can't help but buy.

Very clean, spacious restrooms with privacy stall walls to the floor. The bathrooms alone are worth the stop. Then the selection is amazing. It's a great concept.

They are just getting ready to when they move to TX for better jobs, better schools, and better healthcare.

The only two I go to somewhat regularly are Madisonville and Giddings and both are always insanely crowded. This is always on the weekend though

Maybe. Grocery stores genrally have shite margins though, and really tough inventory overhang that spoils. I'm also thinking in terms of the huge overhead just associated with an operation that massive. They are clearly doing something right though, if they are expanding at the rate they are.
