One of my friends was a bar tender there for a while and always hooked us up. I guess knowing the right people always helps since everybody here complains about the price of drinks

maybe ownership felt the need to overcharge paying customers since the staff was stealing from him.

Maybe so, but I for sure am not going to be the one to complain about it. Not my problem now

That happens at every bar, every restaurant, ever store, every plant, refinery, etc.

Employee related shrinkage. He was just making a jab at you for fostering the behavior.

Oh, I know. I just don't feel like arguing a moot point this early on a Monday. Especially considering the bar is now closed

I loved it because of the people and the location. As long as the people remain the same I will continue to go there. I would walk in on Christmas Eve/Night, Thanksgiving Night, or St. Patties and know 75% of the people there. All different ages. Some my friends, some my siblings' friends, etc.

If they improve the bar and retain the clientele, I'm all for it. I just hope they don't make it look too "chainy". I love the dive bar feel and that place has a ton of history in BR. 21 year olds are doing the same shite there that 45 year olds did at their age.

I've heard he's gonna fix the bathrooms first.

If he works on the menu and drops the prices just a little I think the place will snap back.

You have to know me then. I think you mentioned that before.

Being from BR. I've hit that joint for those very holidays at least 10 years of my legal drankin.

Yea Draconion is a tard for wanting organic atmosphere. A good bar is made by the patrons.

That back bathroom was a blessing since it had a lock.

I said it earlier, but Ivars has been noticeably dead this year. Many times I've walked in on a Friday night and there would only be 3 or 4 people there. No idea what happened because Zee Zee's still had the usual amount of people

Ivar's wouldn't be a bad bar if it wasn't filled out douchebags and over priced alcohol. The location and set up of the bar was cool and their St. Patty's day celebration was great.

That bar fricking sucked. Shitty service , no itemized receipts, and dirty tap lines.

Do you enjoy the bar Ivar's? I haven't been able to get a good read on your feelings towards it

Listen, we can all agree that Ivars had its faults. I, myself began to frequent it less the last few months because it was falling apart. But Ivars is something special that Baton Rouge needs more of (obviously not the negatives). Like Drac said, it was a bar with character. It felt like that dump you enjoyed being in. Same goes with what mikel said, a bar has to have good patrons, and I think both of those opinions feed off each other. A bar with character is going to attract good patrons.

You can't excuse the faults and the prices, but I'd rather pay $6 for a beer in a shitty bar that has all the people I like and something unique, than paying $3 for a beer in some mass produced lolBR style chain bar that is gimmicky, (Walk Ons productions, et al.)

The menu is one of the last things that need to change. The layout is weird and could use a remodel, the place needs a good thorough cleaning, and the drink prices need to be competitive.

I don't mind bulldog but (the BR location at least) is forced and somewhat pretentious. I prefer my bars to have a more organic personality.
WTF are you babbling about?
