My mind was a little hazy after that night but I remember the beer prices being better than previous visits. And yes the bar is still called Ivars.

it took me a long time to realize it's actually "Smails", which is a weird fricking name.

I hope they can get the turd smell out that place. Love the bar, love the wings, but it was definitely due for a change.

The wings were killer as always and I am pretty sure the stench you speak of disappeared with the bathroom remodels

They also replaced the old tile floor on one side and got rid of the awful tile floor which helped to eliminate the smell as well.

I will visit tomorrow night when I'm in town.

They have the acreage in the back to have a seriously badass outdoor patio. They need to build one.

They should also put the pool table in that side room. The one that is to the left when you walk in the front door. Its too crowded where it currently is and restricts shots at the table while clogging the walkway outside and to the bathrooms.

Glad to hear they are making some effort though.

They put booths over there and a bunch of TV's on the wall above bar(so you can sit on that side of bar now and enjoy some sports).

I posted a few weeks ago after Wisky game. Dom bottled beer is $3.50 and Well double's $8. taps for draft weren't installed yet but on way so not sure about draft prices yet.
Anyhoot, That's cheaper than before. They also have $2 beer night and other specials unlike before.

Food is good from what I hear but I haven't tried it. Grilled Oysters and Fish Tacos are said to be legit although the fish was said to be a bit salty according to a prominent long time patron.

What Mike has to say is in line with my thoughts on it. Tons of things done to get the place looking better than it ever has IMO. Should be a great late night spot and now very good for Sunday NFL.

I also heard from valid source last Saturday for LSU game they had $10 domestic buckets. $2 a bottle of beer at Ivars is enough reason for me to start going back.

First table on right was my second living room for years after college.

The fried green tomatoes were pretty good.

They need to work on their Jell-O shots though

I can confirm the bucket special. Mikelbr must have been in there same day I was because I heard the exact same review on oysters and fish tacos. Place got a much needed cleaning, and facelift.

it could have been much worse but it still lost a little something in the remodel. i won't stop going there completely but it's no longer my favorite bar in BR.

What did it lose? The new tap lines are by far the biggest improvement IMO
