Jeeps in that price range are not known to be reliable. As a college student, you want a vehicle that is going to be relatively cheap to maintain until graduation. If you want to stay in the mid-size SUV market, I'd suggest looking at a 2010 Toyota 4-runner. I think you'd also like a 2014 Toyota Tacoma. Per Autotrader, both are in your price range.
This. I have a much older 4runner and it has been great to not have to worry about reliability and the last thing I'd want is some big required expense like a car right when I graduated college (assuming parents won't pay for another car). I haven't put much money in it outside of oil change/tune-up and I put new tires on it when I got it. Still running strong after 7 years.

This changes the entire thread. You are one of those college students.
You know that's like a $10,000 car, right?
A nice enough car for a college student, but not new BMW territory.

My first cat out of college was an F-150. Bought it used, 2 years old with 25k miles. Truck was stacked and everything I always wanted.
I drove it 18 months before trading in for a brand new Subaru Outback. My monthly note is the same, but I save almost $200 a month on gas.
Unless you use a truck for hauling stuff, its a waste.
