I'm a student at UTK and have about a 4 hour commute to home. So I need something somewhat fuel efficient, even though thats not the determining factor. Anywhere from 20k to 27K is the desired price, so I have really been looking into Jeep Grand Cherokees. What y'all think?

ETA: It's obviously going to be a used car.

How does a student afford a new car?

An SUV is not gonna be very fuel efficient.

So you want to buy a slightly used car/new car to basically drive you to campus or work for the next few years? You would have a terrible return on that investment. Bite the bullet and get a small used car with over 30+ gas mileage, no one will be judging you on the car you drive. But if you want to look cool and spend more money than you need, by all means get the Jeep.

Easy. Buy a truck. The F-150's with the eco-boost get like 22 mpg on the highway and you get to keep your ballsack.

I just bought a used Altima and I'm getting 38 MPG at 75. You can buy one of those for 14 or 15. Less if you get a 2012 or older, but they only get about 32 MPG.
