Well whenever we do go...it will be minimum of 2 weeks and we will be going to different countries.

For something like that...I like some structure. I want to get the most of my time there. They have companies that specialize in packages for trips like that.

But yes.... I use trip advisor quite a lot.

That destination is minimum 2 layovers.

Depends on where you are flying from. OP's location says Columbus, OH. I would imagine there are several 1 stop flights to Italy from there.

Quick expedia search shows many one stop flights from NOLA and a few from BR.

I even checked prices 3 months from now...looks like around $1400 pp; 2 months from now...$1800

I got married in Positano. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. Stayed at the Hotel Miramar. Our hostess we so welcoming and comforting. Her name is Rosita. We had our reception at La Tagliatta. By far the greatest meal we had the entire trip. The ambiance overlooking the ocean and the town of Positano is uncomparable to anything else. Definetly worth the money to stay there. I will be going back for my 5 year anniversary.

Probably wont get that for flights. Budget for trains too.

Being on the Amalfi coast you are 1 hour from Rome and 30 minutes from Pompeii.

If you stay in Rome, I highly recommend the Hotel Forum the breakfast and view is unbeatable. Plus you can pretty much walk anywhere you would want.

I've stayed in Sorrento and pretty much anything city center works hotel-wise if you stay in the mountains get ready for some scary road trips. The Positano side is nicer. Capri is a great side trip. The blue Grotto is expensive but worth the boat trip around the island.

Pompeii is awesome and you will need a good chunk of a days time to wander around in that place.

Stay the hell out of Naples!! you have been warned.

OP, check out this link. This guide gets flights cheap, so it is beyond possible to get it below $1000. Don't haul off and buy some expensive arse ticket on Expedia or Priceline.

Naples was literally covered in garbage when we drove through. The garbage men were on strike. I have no desire to go there

Place is 400 city blocks of trashed piled higher than some of the buildings. Its Italy's version of Detroit.

Failed city and the people are miserable.

Just went there for my honeymoon two years ago and you might want to at least double that figure. Especially when you plan on staying at a 4 or 5 star hotel. Wee stayed two weeks and had fun, but it will be expensive.

Skip the hotel, charter a boat for 3 days. You're welcome.

ETA: Yes, Naples is a shithole.

Google the Sagaponack Catamaran...might be a bit big for 2 people...but the crew is top notch and the boat is awesome.

Fwiw--don't tour Positano on a scooter unless you know what you're doing. BIL and sister went there and did that and almost went off a cliff. Could've been bad.

Not if you only have 7 days. Travel alone will eat up several days.

We looked at going here for our honeymoon ...cheapest flights we saw were 1700-1800 pp

Can be done in about 9 days. You can figure about 1 day wasted each way at best if you schedule right. LAX To PPT every Saturday is 3:00 to 11:ish.
