Fact. - the south would be a well oiled machine today without the north dragging us down. They'd also be a socialist country and we;d have a North Korea vs South Korea scenario going on.

It's less about losing in WWII and more their conduct after the Germans forced surrender. The Charlemagne division fought from Moscow to Berlin where held out until April 30th, 1945. Vichy France. The French navy refusing to hand over to Great Britain forcing a confrontation. The French Resistance really wasn't there either.
