South had more heart.

They won the war but we won the party.

That's with Robert E Lee loving this country enough not to go to guerilla tactics as Jefferson Davis wanted.

I'm almost cool with losing the War since it meant we got better college football.

we were too busy raping and pillaging to worry about actually finishing the war.

The South should have just complied like they were told.

You mean like fighting on their home turf for virtually the entire war?

Four years is pretty quick considering the mobility and communications standards of the day.

We'd have a lot more products made in America.

The Union could have ended it in a couple of months but they strolled into Manassas thinking it would be a romp and ended up scattering like cowards back to DC.

It took 4 years because the Union had to fight all those statues in New Orleans. They be killin everyone. It's basic common sense.

The CSA wasn't a whole lot better at Manassas I. They just had a slightly better officer corps and managed to bumble-frick around not quite so much as the USA did.

It was the very first proto-industrial warfare in the world. It was almost certain to be brutal and bloody no matter the decisions. It was Romantic culture married with industrial machinery - a minor preview of WWI.

It took the Union a hot minute to take New Orleans, which they held for the rest of the war.

So what is the great Confederate history in NOLA that the monuments were meant to celebrate?

Without the draft it would have ended in a draw after a year.
