After doing lunges at Cross Fit last week I think I may have pulled my IT Band. Hurts like hell. Any suggestions on a remedy to help it heal and how long should I expect for it to be sore?

It's going to hurt like hell, but you can get a cheap foam roller from Walmart, Target, Academy, ect. Lay on your side and place the foam roller between the ground and your it band and roll the foam roller up and down the it band. Might be a little sore but it'll help it in the long run.

Rest it

Are you over weight or no?

Not overweight at all.

Gonna rest tomorrow for sure. How long you think I should rest?

Should I ice it or a hot bath with Epson Salt?

She's neither, she deals with neck and spine. All she's good for is writing me a script

And no, I'm not bragging. I'm just looking for suggestions.

As someone who has chronic it band issues, you can't pull your it band. The it band is made of fascia, which is some pretty strong stuff. Here is a couple things that helps me. Yoga emphasizing the IT band is key.

Yeah, don't think you can pull it technically, but I'm no doctor. It can be tight and cause inflamation issues. I get it when running in bad/old shoes sometimes. Foam rolling supposedly helps, but some people say it doesn't do much (for IT band that is, for muscle soreness it can definitely help).

Where is the pain? My pain was always on the outer part of my knee. Would pop some aleve and ice it after runs where it became an issue.

Yea the outer part of the knee gets tight as hell, and the knee will pop and feel more unstable than usual. Again, this is my experience, and I have been having ITBS for a year now.
