Both. He's a lab and not destructive. Sleeps on the couch when we're at work and sleeps in our bed and his bed half the night.

I swore up and down that I'd never have a dog in the house. I got my Lab a couple years later as a gift to my wife.
She's become a part of the family m. She sleeps on the couch, her dog bed, the bottom of our bed, and has kept me company when the wife ignores me when I watch LSU lose to Wisconsin and get black out drunk.
She's a part of the family. She has as much right to my couch as I do.

The adult chihuahua we adopted whined so much the first few nights we had him in a cage downstairs, we ended up letting him in the bed to shut him up.
The only positive that has been created is that he chases away any of the cats that otherwise would have been in the bed as we sleep.
