I don't think they should teach them religious beliefs, because the child cannot possibly reason with what is being said.

When you're repeatedly told something in impressionable periods of youth, you will believe it, regardless of how silly it is.

This is why much of the US believes the Rapture will happen in their lifetime.

I know it is pretty much impossible to not indoctrinate your children with your own beliefs

but I think one you should try to let them learn and discover their own beliefs the best you can do

telling a 6 year old that if you do not believe what Daddy believes you will burn in hell for eternity is pretty shitty

I think good parents should stop their kids from believing in the wrong things.

This can mean nothing and everything, simultaneously.

Religion breeds ignorance. Women are reproductively suited for sexual activity in their early teens, as designed by nature. These women go through this period in life often feeling shame about their desires, because they're desires are wrong, albeit natural.

I have no problem with parents teaching their kids their beliefs, or taking them to church. Allowing them to figure it out for themselves is better, but not likely in many families.

the problem lies with the gubmint, or teachers, incorporating the teaching of their religious beliefs in public schools. VBS is voluntary.

I've been in countless southern baptist churches, and I've never heard a true fire and brimstone sermon like is often portrayed.

Obviously the message is that those who aren't saved go to hell, but it is 99% of the time presented as the inverse, meaning "get saved and have eternal life."

I'm sure the "you're going to hell" message happens, but I think it's amazingly overblown.

No. Dumbasses breed ignorance. I bet you think that the majority of the world's wars were started by religion too

Considering close half of the total human population presently residing in the United States believes that the Rapture will happen, I think it is safe to say the Heaven and Hell dynamic is very much alive and well.
