Is this upcoming week going to define Sharon Weston Broome's tenure as mayor?

She has a chance to make or break her term as mayor. She can go the route of the disgraced Ferguson/Baltimore/Berkley mayors or she can decide to go a different approach.

She's going to go down as the worst thing to ever happen to Baton Rouge.

That is not hyperbole.

The mayor or a city with expected problems will have some kind of legacy when all is said and done.

The last mayor was noticed to have been conspicuously absent during the last protest.

Yeah, he let the police do their job and there was little, if any, damages to the city. He also didn't politicize this like the Ferguson and other mayors did.

She's going to cause St. George to happen which will turn Baton Rouge into Jackson, MS over night.

If a moderate, smart, logical mayor came in, St. George could've been prevented. It's all but a sure thing now.

How real of a thing is this

Is it realistic or is it just a pipe dream like Calexit

Kip and JBE handled last summer extremely well IMO.

Name one without googling.

Nobody gives a shite, this has no impact on how mayors are judged. Somehow it always falls on the governor and president, because that makes perfect sense.

Bingo. Kip had flaws. But the man showed me he was worthy of the position, and one higher, with the way he handled it.

I can respect those whom I disagree with if they have an intelligently created moral compass.

Broome's opponent was gonna push for it regardless.

It's a real enough threat that local leaders opposed to making BR better have petitioned the state government to create and unparalleled and undemocratic law to stop it.

So basically people are attacking the concept of St. George as racist?

He was in the homestretch of a 12-year run.

Plus he just let the police/sheriff in place do their thing.

I'm sad to say that I agree. Nothing she has said or done thus far inspires any confidence that she will do anything other than give blacks free reign to riot and destroy. I don't care if they want to protest, if they do it peacefully and leave innocent citizens and their property alone. If Broome follows the leads of the mayors of Ferguson, Berkeley, and Baltimore, and lets protesters trash the city, it should be a death blow to any chance of reelection and a guarantee that she will never have the trust or support of white voters in EBR parish.

Yes but that wasn't my point. Local groups opposed to St. George have petitioned the state government to change the law and allow all citizens of EBR to vote on the measure instead of just those who would live in the defined boundaries.

After this upcoming debacle, we here will refer to her as the goldennugget of Baton Rouge. (GNBR for short)

Yep. They believe in self determination for themselves but not anyone not like them.
