I got rear-ended a few months ago I bought my truck to the guy that hit me ins company. They wrote a check. I went to my body shop and got it fixed. The check was made out in my name.

Bingo, even fixed that's 5k she essentially took from you.
I was in an accident in 2014 and the other insurance company has finally paid their portiom of my medical expenses but hasn't paid my rental fees and deductible.
I nearly died, maxed out her 15k policy with the forst hospital visit, and have to dip into my own policy to cover the bills.
frick insurance companies. Had I been poor, I likely would have lost everything.
ETA: all insurance checks have been written out to me. No one else.

Some lady ran into my old truck while I was shopping for a new truck. Trade in on the old truck was only $500 less after being wrecked.
Insurance cut a $1700 check for the damages.
Check was made out to me so I just traded it in wrecked and put the extra $1200 towards new truck.

Go to the nicest body shop around to get the estimate and then do the work at a cheaper place and pocket the difference.
I've never been cut a check directly for the repair work. I've chosen where I want the work to be done and the insurance company pays the shop directly, minus my deductible, which I pay directly to the shop. I've never wanted to do anything other than get my car fixed, though, so I didn't give a shite about asking to be paid directly.
I have been cut direct checks before for insurance claims, but they were for things that were not the actual repair work itself.

Insurance agent said he's gonna send me a check once I figure out the cost and he verifies it with the shop.
Also, if I don't make a claim, will this still go on my vehicles record? No cops were involved.
And I'll drive this car until the wheels fall off.

I hope someone rear ends me. I was rear ended a few years ago by a 17 year old kid. Long story short, his mom asked if we didn't involve the police or insurance she'd pay cash to fix whatever. She did.
Fast forward to a year later. Turning onto Oneal from the interstate a lady takes a right. I look left as I'm creeping out behind her to turn right. As I turn my head back right she's at a dead stop for no reason. I hit her barely doing 8-10 mph. She gets out apologizing that she stopped. Cop saw the accident and didn't issue any tickets but wrote a report. I told her to get a quote to fix her scratched bumper and I'd give her cash to fix. She agreed. In fact she told me her brother owns a body shop. We talk a few times and she tells me how much it'll be to fix. I agree and ask her what's the easiest way to pay her. Radio silence for months. Not answering my calls or anything. I eventually get a phone call from my insurance company letting me know she is sueing. Wtf!?!
I will sue the piss out of anyone who bumps my shite. frick em.

If it's that minor, don't make the claim. Won't be on your record without being reported.

State Farm has a deal whereby if you choose one of their "preferred shops" all you do is pay the deductible, and you never see the check. If you choose a shop not on their list, you give them the estimate, and they cut a check to you, or so I remember.
I'm pretty sure that's not fraud, though some might consider it disingenuous. However, one way to look at it is that you are just shuffling around resources that are rightfully yours. I guess there is another layer to it if the car is financed and you have some responsibility to the lien holder.

Negative. The insurance company knew she was at fault from day 1. She turned in front of me and I drove over the front of her car with my left front and started flipping.
They have fought from day one on every single thing.
If you have liberty mutual insurance, you should burn in hell.
AND
Everyone associated with liberty mutual should die in a fire.

I had a girl rear-end me last November. Damage was only cosmetic and my car has been paid off for years. I just used the $2k for stuff I wanted. No problem.

This happened to me once. Long story short a u-haul truck backed into my van, stopped then took off. Some guys at work watched it happen from a few floors above me & they were able to get some of the license plate.
Fast forward to when the adjuster came out, he looked at the huge dent in the back and asked me "so these scratches were there already" (you could barely see them) and I told him yes and he said "are you sure?" I told him now that he mentioned it, no they were not. He gave me a check and I went to my uncle's mechanic shop and they popped out the dent for me.

That's when you file a suit against her personally for fraud and mental anguish she's causing you. Sure it will cost you some money but it will also cost her to hire a lawyer to defend herself. Let it play out just to piss her off. That's us OT ballaz roll.
