NASA’ Former chief operating officer in Spain Carlos González Pintado says there could be life on Kepler-452b — the newly remarkable world discovered by NASA’ kepler mission — given its characteristics. Kepler-452b is located 1,400 light-years away from us and it has some intriguing features very similar to our own blue planet.

If theres water yes, if not then no. It's older and has had more time to develop.

What do the chicks look like? That's the first thing we need to know.

We need to find a way to get a photo of these planets , find a telescope that can do that.

Only moving there if it has 0 degree axis, no seasons FTW.

If it has an atmosphere similar to ours it pretty much has life

Probably, there's also a chance that there is also life on other celestial bodies in our own solar system

On Earth that means nothing. In fact, the older the worse because more chances for more mass extinctions.

I think it has to be assumed there is. It almost certainly has an atmosphere, is older than earth, and gets about the same amount of light and energy/heat from the star it orbits in about the same time earth orbits the sun.

I'm just guessing but I bet the scientists will come out with some percentage guestimates soon in tp 90%+ range of complex life.

NASA has no idea whether there is water or air, much less life. And yet they release this photo of an artist's conception of Kepler-452b showing clouds and water. This is crap science.

The truth is this is simply self promotion by NASA that has everybody stirred up for no good reason. They have already found more than 1,000 planets and several of them have decent potential for life, so Kepler-452b is nothing new. A friend of mine writes newspaper articles for NASA and gives talks promoting NASA. She is fairly disgusted about Kepler-452b since she considers it to be fluff that is taking attention away from Pluto which is giving some genuinely interesting and new results.

How do you know life on that planet would need water? Our perception of that may be biased since life developed on this planet around water.

Life cycles were once thought to be completely dependent on energy from the sun, then we found organisms that get all of their energy from deep ocean gas vents.

While I know you're just being funny, I wonder.

What happens if we find life elsewhere and it's humanoid? Not necessarily human, but ya know, two arms, two legs, upright etc etc? What would that indicate to people?
