am I missing something there? never seen anything bad/out of the ordinary in that stretch of Highway

I drove it every other weekend for a year. It sucks, especially driving into the afternoon sun on the way to Suck Tonio. There is so much truck traffic coming out of Mexico that rolls through SA it makes the drive back east shite, too. When I drive to/from Austin (I-10 to 71), I constantly encounter trucks doing barely 40mph westbound from the Katy Buccees to 71.

I think OP was talking about road condition, but it's the OT, so we're guaranteed to be off topic within two pages.

This entire thread is about I-10. Maybe if y’all ventured out more than just the big city of Baton Rouge or Beaumont, or the southern corridor in general, there would be more to talk about.

Im a guy who has traveled over most of the US, and many parts of the world .. granted, i cant speak to driving in other countries since i usually take public transportation or taxis/Uber.. but in the US, this thread is focusing on stretches of road that many people need to take relatively often.. sure, ive driven thru W Texas and New Mexico, but not many people constantly have to drive that route,.. as far as heavily traveled stretches of highway, i havent found any worse than I10 between Houston and NOLA.. there are SO many places you can get stuck; if you make it thru Beaumont , then LC or Laffy is bound to get you.. if not then you will definitely get jammed up in BR.. besides the almost certain traffic delays, it also happens to be extremely ugly and boring .. so as someone who lives outside of La, i can attest to what many in this thread are saying .

Yea, from Shreveport to Lafayette. Hate that stretch of lonely highway
Dude, I-49 from Shreveport to Lafayette is great interstate with light traffic. What’s not to like about it?

you are over-focusing on the coldly inhuman efficiency of a deserted highway & missing the existentialist angst of his pathetic cry for help

It was an easier drive from Houston to Baton Rouge back in 1981 when I was a freshman at LSU than it us now.

Speed limit was 55 back then and everything between 610 East and BR was only 4 lanes... now it's 65,70,75 and 6-10 lanes in many places and still worse to drive.

nope... i fricking hate making this trip specifically for this reason.... and with the road construction going on in TX, you can even extend that all the way to Houston

i used to drive that stretch all the time going home when I was at NW St... i'd take that stretch 100 times over Beaumont to BR I-10...

When we went to LC about 3 months ago, I was impressed with the LA portion on the internet. TX could learn some things. Don't tell me they have screwed it up.

I'm convinced that an hour's drive either east or west of Houston on I-10 are the absolute worst drives.

They do get bonus points for the half loop.

It's sufficient for that area though. Ain't nobody have any business in north Lake Charles to need a loop haha

It was called a loop all of my child hood and now is the by-pass, but if anything I-10 is more of a by-pass of LKC than the loop is.
