That's called structuring and can land you in federal pound you in the arse prison.

Read the Wikipedia entry on currency transaction report.

For being this big baller you act like on here it seems like you would realize putting out $10K (to a stranger) to only make a 5% return is insanity.

Never heard of the form. I didn't have to the last two times I did it. Is this recent?

Last time I pulled that much out was early 2014.

Law is designed to track large withdrawals and deposits primarily due to the illegal drug business. Your bank should have had you fill out the form or they may have had it incorporated in your withdrawal form. Whatever you signed when you withdrew probably covered the requirement. The law has been in effect for quite a while now. Banks are required to report the withdrawal so I don't know if your sig is actually required.

Um stop posting. You having 10k in cash makes you a huge target to law enforcement. If you are pulled over say bye bye to the cash.

That's just the local cops. If you pull out just under 10k, the IRS can seize your house under 'structuring laws', if they think you're evading paperwork required under financial disclosure laws.

I'd delete this thread if I were you.

We've got ourselves a criminal mastermind here. No way the feds would ever be able to figure that out.

EDIT: Also, what legitimate transaction needs 10k in cash and can't wait a day and a half until the banks open? OP, are you up to no good?

I had to go through TSA with a large sum of cash one time. It was for a legitimate reason, but I was so nervous about a crooked official.

Fricking cops use forfeiture laws all the time to seize a few thousand bucks that people have in their car, with no evidence of drugs whatever.

When the forfeiture laws were broadened in the late 80s and early 90s, the cops and DAs said trust us. Only pussy liberals and hippies opposed the law and order measures. The cops have since abused the frick out of that trust. The hippies were right that time.

So much fail in one post, it's not illegal to have cash on you in any amount.

Second, it's not illegal to withdrawal $9,999. It's just reported like every other 10k+ withdrawal. Now systematically doing something like that will draw scrutiny, but if your affairs are in order, no problem.

Sure, but it involves a ski mask, some firepower, a getaway driver, and a damn good alibi
