Millions of kids are being put on drugs because they're parents are too lazy to provide structure for their kids. They let them run amok, give them ipads and videogames instead of making them go play outside. Then they go to class and they're tweaking from the stimuli and teachers, $ hungry DRs and pharmas turn little johnny into a pill head. Parents either provide structure and boundaries for your kids or don't have them. Its that simple

Every 3 months. 28 pages.
It's extremely over diagnosed.

Supply and demand. Those places wouldn't exist unless people were abusing pain meds, and anyone who goes there knows what they're going for.

That's just capitalism at work. But I agree it's pretty disgusting.

I did go to one and all he wanted to do was prescribe 180 10mg of narco. I was like dude, I don't want drugs, what can you do to help me with my pain? He told me drugs are the way to go. Screw him.

It is definitely overdiagnosed but I certainly don't think it is a scam for some people. It can be debilitating.

It's too subjective to diagnose.
Drs aren't trained to diagnose.
Drs say if you get benefit from the meds than you have add.
Even without add most feel benefit from the amphetamine.
Most problems are from overstimulation like TV.
You expect a kid to sit still after watching a flashing screen?
I think attention exercises and training like meditation would be more beneficial.

The underlying problem is an over importance in making good grades, and behaving. At what cost?
I know so many successful students who didn't cut it as adults, and vice versa.
It's such a small part of happiness.

I was diagnosed ADHD when I was younger and then got off it when I was in the military because you don't have to think for yourself, just execute... I got back on Adderral in my last two semesters in college and it helped a lot as an adult... Then I graduated and didn't think I needed it anymore.

6-8 weeks ago I ran in a colleague on a work trip to Houston who said she was taking it and it helps her a lot with focus and motivation.

Long story short, I got back on it around that same time and it has changed my life for the better.

I agree that it's probably over diagnosed and I hate to kids stymied by dependence on medication, but I personally wouldn't be doing as well as I am now without it.

Take from that what you will...

True. Leave that to teachers.

I like the emphasis on ADD/ADHD and hope that it cures the disease like TMJ has nearly been wiped out.
