I rented one and it was slow as hell. But it was dependable for that day and a half, so there is that.

They had a weird problem w/ the back glass breaking, that's a $1500 fix.

Doesn't glass coverage take care of that?

HHR's are junk, possibly even junkier than dodge neons. Stay away

Is the HHR a dependable vehicle
My only input is that the one I rented a few years ago was very underpowered.

True, plus the gas mileage is about 26 ave.

might as well go all out and get a used PT cruiser since he's obviously got an open budget.

No Chrysler products for me. They are built by untrained monkeys.

I got a handy a few years back while driving one to St. Petersburg FL on I-95. The power steering really made it easy to keep the vehicle going in the right direction.

My mother wanted one but I convinced her to get a Jetta TDI wagon instead. Still ugly and unreliable but it does have excellent fuel economy.

I disagree. Riding a dinosaur is better than driving a Neon.[link=

I took a 35 minute test drive. Going through the gears and redlining it.

No valve noise, no oil leaks and no blow by.
