Idgaf if you think this should be on the Travel board. I want the OTs opinion. Stuff came up at work. Now I will be working the weekend here in Houston so I will not be attending the festivities in the home state. I'm pissed.

well, if you won't be able to go without comparing it to New Orleans' mardi gras, just do yourself a favor and skip it. if you want to go with an open mind and let yourself enjoy it for what it is, then get out of the hotel room and go for it.
one word of warning, though...you can be sure that the locals don't really want to hear you drone on incessantly about how much better the NO carnival is than theirs....

You have to pay admission to get into what they call Mardi Gras. Been once. Won't go again.
