I've been diving down into the Wikipedia rabbit hole this morning, and came across the entry on the Bermuda Triangle ( LINK). I remember seeing documentaries on it when I was younger, and it always seemed scary that there was a vast expanse of ocean that could make ships or planes disappear.

It seems like nowadays with GPS and other technology that getting lost to this extent wouldn't happen anymore, but I can't help but wonder if ships or older planes still experience issues when going through this area of the ocean (and stay on course because of their new technology).

Yeah, I couldn't imagine something like a Boeing 777 just disappearing over an ocean without the slightest hint of an explanation as to What happened to it.

Especially with the entire world looking for it and never finding it. That type of thing just wouldn't happen today.

ETA: smartass mode is off. I used to love to read about the triangle and other supernatural phenomenon like UFOs and ghosts .

But if you dig a little deeper into the lore of the Triangle you find that a lot of the disappearances never really took place in the triangle as defined by the islands and Florida. A lot of the disappearances happened in the general area of that part of the ocean.

The Methane gas explanation seems to be the logical answer.

Methane gas is very good at making people disappear.

Absolutely!! Some of the best TV movies from the 70's were about the Bermuda Triangle. The dad from My Three Sons starred in one. He would never have been in a 70s disaster movie about something that wasn't real. Geesh.
The reason you don't hear much about the Devil's Triangle these days is because people are more aware of it's danger and modern technology allows for people to navigate around it...

It's not the Bermuda Triangle that you should be looking into, it's the Square Grouper.

The convergence of the Gulf Stream and the North Atlantic currents have since been determined to produce a high number of rogue waves. That's the predominate theory for the lost vessels.

Its a numbers thing. There are more boats in that area than most areas, which results in more accidents. Simple math, and I suck at math.

No. It's been well established to be a worm hole to another dimension or a time travel corridor...

Pretty sure Scooby Doo and the gang solved that mystery back in the 70's. Turned out Mr. Grimsley was behind the entire thing.

Amazing to think that he could have gotten away with it too if it weren't for a group of meddling kids and a dog.
