What's ruining NO is AirBnB and the douchy tourist invasion it's brought into our neighborhoods. Here's hoping social media hype of crime makes some of them go to somewhere else.

New Orleans is down about 500 cops from what would be sufficient to patrol the city. In reality that number is probably close to 700-800. Do you see that changing anytime? If not why would criminals stop robbing restaurants and bars? This group might get caught but it's the tip of the iceberg. The word is out, the cops aren't going to come fast enough.

I think as long as there aren't many outright murders in tourist and tax paying areas NOLA will continue to improve.

A new mayer will help as well - Mitch has obviously gone off the fricking deep end

While I think the crime is a huge problem right now New Orleans is still better than it has ever been in my lifetime. Social media goes both ways. For every person talking about the bad they have just as many or more talking about the good. Here lately I've only talked about the bad.

Kind of but that doesn't make someone a violent a-hole. There are plenty of decent human beings that are welfare moochers. I realize that's kind of an oxymoron but I see it on a daily basis. Not all poor welfare recipients are raising violent assholes.

Mitch has nothing to do with raising shitty dindunuffins. People really need to stop blaming politicians and start blaming the root cause of the fricking problem.

Fine. I blame people like you for not blaming people like Mitch. You win.

It won't do anything because the person who replaces Mitch will likely have the same beliefs.

I don't even think crime is a huge problem.

The numbers suggest otherwise, despite the weakening police presence, it's still safer than even five years ago

What did Mitch or any other politician have to do with raising these assholes? Personal accountability doesn't exist anywhere anymore.

Huge problem and I blame Mitch. The number is closer to 800 than 500.

Mardi Gras could get ugly this year.

If they stay in the Quarter and downtown, fine. Quality of life for residents of the Bywater, LGD, etc, has declined.

We need short term rental regulation....

They'll bring in State Troopers again I'm sure. The police shortage is a major slight and that's what Mitch should be getting nailed to the wall about. They've completely wasted federal monies on stupid shite instead of beefing up police, fire and EMS.

Lol. The Bywater and the Marigny were in shambles fifteen years ago.

Now the homes are beautiful, improving, and continually being renovated.

But I do agree there needs to be some type of regulation - which will just give the city more money.

A non-existent word that mentally challenged people often confuse with the word "rampant."

If anything, I hope the noise gets louder and louder.

Something must be done.
