Is social media undermining New Orleans?

The city has always been labeled dangerous and crime ridden, no? We've always known the innate dangers of certain parts of the city and try to stay out of them. With the advent of Facebook, the city is constantly in the limelight regardless of the crime. Is this too much negative exposure for the city?
What's the impact going forward with crimes (at any level) being over sensationalized on social media streams?

Major gunpoint robberies of affluent restaurants isn't over sensationalized. We have a lacking police force, an put of control crime issue, and a city government that doesn't seem to give a frick

It's New Orleanians who are undermining New Orleans, not social media.

way to avoid the actual problem...
address the crime and there will be less exposure on social media

Those statues are out of control in New Orleans. They keep committing crimes and this won't stop until they are removed and replaced with statues of seemingly less racist historical figures

In addition to not giving a frick, the city government is incompetent from top to bottom anyway.

I wish. Gotham wasn't a dump. It was full of some of the biggest businesses and plenty of money.

Tourism will eventually decline if the crime doesn't drop.

Mitch has nothing to do with raising shitty dindunuffins. People really need to stop blaming politicians and start blaming the root cause of the fricking problem.

Tourism has been increasing steadily year after year and with the advent of Airbnb it shows zero signs of stopping.

No, social media is forcing people to take action which is a good thing. Look to lakeview, we'd never hear about all the cars being broken into without it. Plus projectnola has been great.
