Is Snitching on your friend bad?

I am trying to advise a 14 y/o about the dangers of illegal drugs and prescription Rx. He has some friends that smoke weed. I don't believe in snitching as a rule but these arseholes are smoking on a school playground after hours. Just seems wrong to me. I told him to tell them if he sees it he is going to the cops.

Snitching on your buddies for smoking weed isn't cool.
It's only ok if you are doing it to help avoid a serious harm to someone. Smoking weed and the potential for getting busted for smoking weed isn't enough.
